Nahdhat Shabab Project — Yemen

ABOUT

The Amideast Nahdhat Shabab Project (NSP) trained over 781 Yemenis in vocational, professional, and employability skills. More than 160 trainees were connected with mentors and local businesses to gain real-world experience as interns in key companies and in improving their communities. Trainees came from a broad cross-section of Yemeni society, with 22 Yemeni communities included in the project.

Workforce Improvement & Skills Enhancement (WISE) — Egypt

Since 2015, Amideast/Egypt has partnered with Management Training Corporation (MTC) to support the USAID-funded WISE project. Amideast is providing technical leadership for the entrepreneurship and work-based learning activities undertaken to help technical secondary schools better prepare students to meet labor market needs, and providing technical expertise and support for efforts to improve labor market efficiency and improve the overall environment for workforce development.

About HEI

The U.S.-Egypt Higher Education Initiative (HEI) is an investment in Egypt’s future that provides educational opportunities for high-achieving Egyptians to learn skills that will better meet the needs of the 21st century economy.  The Initiative encourages partnerships between Egyptian and American universities for knowledge transfer, research, and joint degree programs that reflect the needs of a modern economy in critical disciplines such as agribusiness, engineering, and entrepreneurship.

U.S.-Egypt Higher Education Initiative (HEI) - Public University Scholarships

SCHOLARSHIP PRIVILEGES:

  • Studying in excellence programs at universities: Cairo, Ain Shams, Assuit, Mansoura, and Alexandria.
  • Studying in the fields that are crucial in building the future economy of Egypt (Engineering, Commerce, Science, Information Technology, Agriculture, Mass Communication and Economics).
  • Costs covered by the scholarship: tuition fees, books, laptop, enhancement courses on basic skills, accommodation, and transportation.
  • 65% of the students will study a semester abroad in the United States.

Mentorship Program

VOLUNTEER TO BE A MENTOR!

Research shows that mentoring improves student achievement, and can have life-changing impacts. Volunteering is also known to enhance psychological and behavioral well-being for the volunteer. As a mentor, you will develop an ongoing individual relationship with an HEI scholarship student to support their adjustment to university life, coursework management, and career planning. No previous mentoring experience is required.
