Amideast After-hours Emergency Contact Information

In a life-threatening emergency, you must first call 911 to report the emergency and seek immediate assistance.

After you have called 911 to report the emergency and are safe and able to call the Amideast emergency number; or for personal safety non-life-threatening after-hours emergencies, please follow the instructions below to reach the Amideast staff member assigned to your country at the number noted below.

Because staff may be covering other portfolios (during personal time off, for example), a different Amideast staff member than the one indicated below and who does not administer your award may take your call. Therefore, please be prepared to provide the following information when you call so that they can better assist you. If you are unable to make the call yourself and are relying on an emergency contact to make the call on your behalf, then please instruct them to provide this information when they call.

  • Your first and last name (as they appear on your passport)
  • Identify yourself as a Fulbright student or scholar
  • Identify your country (the country where you were nominated for a Fulbright award)
  • Identify the telephone number where Amideast staff can reach you or your emergency contact for follow-up or if the call is disconnected

If your afterhours personal safety emergency call is not immediately answered, then please leave a brief message providing the above information and a brief description of the nature of the personal safety emergency so that staff can return your call as soon as possible and assist you. You may also consider texting your country’s emergency number after leaving a message to ensure that staff will at least receive your call, voicemail, or text if one contact method fails.

Please note that these emergency numbers are only intended for after-hours personal safety-related emergency calls. Participants who call an emergency number for any other reason will be directed to contact their Amideast staff team at their regular office number during regular business hours, no exceptions.

For travel-related emergencies, during business hours or afterhours, participants whose flight was booked through Amideast’s contracted travel agent, currently Gordian Travel International (GTI), should contact GTI directly for assistance to resolve travel-related emergencies such as flight cancellations or flight delays resulting in a missed connection. GTI’s customer service number is indicated on the e-ticket that the participant received and is active 24/7. If your ticket was booked through GTI, the quickest way to receive assistance is to contact GTI directly. Contacting Amideast staff will only delay resolution of the situation because Amideast staff cannot change your itinerary; only GTI personnel can. GTI will reach out to Amideast for any changes that require Amideast authorization.
