Yes, alums from the Fulbright Foreign Student Program for the Middle East and North Africa, the Junior Faculty Development Program, and the Visiting Scholar Program for Iraq, whose Fulbright Programs were administered by Amideast are eligible to apply.
I am an FLTA alum from the Middle East and North Africa region, can I apply to the ADG?
No, only alums from the Fulbright Foreign Student Program for the Middle East and North Africa, the Junior Faculty Development Program, or the Visiting Scholar Program for Iraq whose Fulbright Programs were administered by Amideast are eligible to apply.
How often is this grant offered?
The Alumni Development Grant is typically offered twice every year. The first competition opens around the spring or summer for grant activities taking place from September to March and the second round opens in winter for grant activities taking place anytime from March until September.
I have received an Alumni Development Grant within the last two years, can I apply for another one this round?
There must be a two-year period between receipt of the last grant and the application for the next grant. Preference will be given to applicants who have never received a grant.
Am I required to be living in my home country to be considered for this grant?
No, but preference will be given to applicants residing in one of the countries where Amideast has administered the Fulbright Program. Amideast is aware that many alums are unable to reside in their home countries, and will examine each application on a case-by-case basis. If you have had to relocate, this should not deter you from submitting a competitive application.
Can I conduct my ADG activity in Europe if the conference I would like to attend is there?
No, the ADG activity can only be conducted in the MENA region or the United States. The ADG award does not support activities outside of those two regions.
I would like to apply for an ADG, but I have not fully completed my two-year home residency requirement. Can I still apply?
No, only alums who have completed their two-year home residency requirement may apply for an ADG.
I would like to apply to attend a conference, but the dates of this event do not fall within the the stated grant authorization period. What should I do?
If your activity does not fall under the stated grant authorization period of the current open competition, you must wait to apply in the next round of Alumni Development Grants. Please review the above question on how often the grant is offered for more information.
Can I apply for an ADG while I am still on my Fulbright Program if the activity I propose takes place after I finish my Fulbright grant in the U.S.?
No, you must be a Fulbright alum and have completed your two-year home residency requirement in order to be eligible to apply for an ADG.
Are there reporting requirements after my ADG activity?
Yes. A narrative report, as well as financial documentation, are due to Amideast within 30 days of the completion of your grant.
