OVERVIEW

Amideast Education Abroad Blog Abroad Scholarships are awarded in the form of a tuition reduction, a one-time bank transfer, equal on-site monthly cash payments, or any combination of the three options. Students on semester programs receive $1,000 and students on summer programs receive $500. Blog Abroad scholarships are awarded only for one term.

Students are eligible to receive both our Need-Based Scholarship and the Blog Abroad scholarship for the same program.

Jeremy Eller Blog Abroad Scholarship

This Amideast Education Abroad Scholarship is in honor of Jeremy Eller, a brilliant and intrepid young adventurer with many wonderful and eclectic talents and interests, a real knack for darija, lots of red shirts, and a heck of a sense of humor.

The Jeremy Eller Blog Abroad Scholarship will be awarded to one blogger each term using the following guidelines:

• The blogger must be participating on an Amideast program in Morocco. 
• The blogger must produce video or performance blogs following the summer/semester guidelines below.
• All content must focus on the arts in Morocco.

The award for this blogging scholarship is $1,500 for a semester and $750 for a summer. Applicants not selected for the Jeremy Eller Blog Abroad Scholarship will still be considered for a standard Blog Abroad Scholarship.
 

ELIGIBILITY & APPLICATION

These scholarships are only available to citizens and permanent residents of the United States participating on a semester or summer Amideast Education Abroad program. Students on the FIE/Amideast Conflict & the Struggle for Peace summer program are eligible for a Blog Abroad scholarship. 

Awards will only be made to students who complete their application by the deadline. The application consists of:

• Blog Abroad Scholarship Questionnaire
• Writing Sample or Creative Product Submission

responsibilities

For a semester award, students will submit 7 entries, beginning a few weeks before the program with the final submission prior to departure from their host country. Students can submit up to 2 written blog posts and the rest can come from our list of options such as photo essays, videos, Instagram takeovers, or creative writing.

For a summer award, students will submit 4 entries along the same guidelines as above, except they may only submit 1 written post.

PLEASE NOTE! 

Receipt of a scholarship from Amideast may result in changes or reductions to the financial aid you receive from your home institution. We therefore strongly urge you to consult with your financial aid office prior to applying for an Amideast Education Abroad Scholarship to determine whether you might be affected by such a reduction or change. If you are awarded an Amideast Education Abroad Scholarship, we will inform the study abroad office at your home college or university; you are responsible for reporting any award to your financial aid office.
