Mr. Kutayba Yusuf Alghanim is currently the Executive Chairman at Alghanim Industries, where he leads one of the largest privately owned companies in the region. Since the early 1970s, when he was appointed to lead the company, Mr. Alghanim introduced contemporary business culture and modernized the organization. He is also the largest shareholder of one of Kuwait’s leading conventional financial institutions, Gulf Bank – which he also chaired in 2008.
Mr. Alghanim plays an active role in supporting quality education for youth both locally and across the region. He founded a children’s home in Lebanon, naming it DIYA, which focuses on the welfare of underprivileged children that do not have homes of their own. In 2020, Mr. Alghanim launched the first edition of the Kutayba Alghanim Design Award, a competition aimed at advancing Kuwait’s innovation economy and supporting young professionals in the arts and
creative industry.
Mr. Alghanim graduated from the University of California in Berkeley. In 2014, he was honored as a Knight Commander of the Order of Saint Michael and Saint George (KCMG) In 2016, he became a member of the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Community of Chairmen, where he played a role in supporting the Forum’s work in promoting true global citizenship. In 2023, he was invested into the Pontifical Order of Saint Sylvester for his good work across the Arab world.
