Advancing Cross-Cultural Competencies
In 2022, Amideast advanced the cross-cultural competencies of nearly 120,000 individuals by:
- Enabling nearly 1,800 MENA students and professionals to live and study in the United States through the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program, Hope Fund, MSSF, Fulbright Foreign Student Program, and other programs.
- Designing tailored short-term, semester and summer study abroad programs through which nearly 200 American students engaged in authentic learning experiences in Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia, and the UAE.
- Facilitating cross-cultural exchange between 460 American and Yemeni university students through the collaborative production of podcasts designed to promote global citizenship values and develop storytelling skills that produce more nuanced and empathetic views of others.
- Providing guidance on U.S. study to more than 100,000 individuals through Amideast-managed EducationUSA advising centers in Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, and Yemen.
- Helping nearly 650 youth in Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, and the UAE improve the competitiveness of their applications for admission and financial aid from U.S. colleges and universities.
- Managing American Spaces in Egypt, Iraq, Tunisia, and the West Bank and Gaza that advanced cross-cultural understanding for more than 17,500 visitors through diverse cultural programming, English language and other skills development, and access to information resources.
