Debby Blazquez

Ms. Debby Blazquez has served as the Vice President of Finance, and Chief Financial Officer since 2018. She currently manages the following teams: Accounting and Finance, Contracts and Grants, Information Technology, Financial Planning and Analysis, Internal Audit, and Risk Management, Assets and Facilities. Key responsibilities include ensuring each team meets its objectives, providing staff supervision and guidance, monitoring the organization’s financial performance (including budget development/forecasts), ensuring solid controls and vetting processes are in place, timely completion of the annual external audit and 990, ensuring compliance with multiple standards and best practices, identifying and minimizing risk, and negotiating the organization’s annual indirect rates. As a member of the senior leadership team, she works collaboratively with her peers to ensure the organization’s strategic direction and mission are achieved while providing reliable data and analysis for decision-making and a solid infrastructure to support programmatic functions. Ms. Blazquez is the primary liaison to Amideast’s investment firm, bankers, external auditors, and key board committees. A notable accomplishment was leading the effort to secure two PPP loans, employee retention credits, and an economic injury disaster loan amounting to over $6.1 million in non-program funding.

Debby has spent over 25 years in the non-profit sector, spanning multiple industries. Before entering the non-profit sector, she worked for two major DC law firms and McDonald’s Corporation (golden arches). McDonald’s moved her around the country to manage regional accounting centers which eventually landed her in the DC region. She started her career working for Price Waterhouse as an intern during college and began working for them full-time upon college graduation.

Ms. Blazquez received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from The Ohio State University, where she graduated summa cum laude. She maintains an active CPA license in both Virginia and Ohio. She also received a Chartered Global Management Accountant certificate. She resides in Northern Virginia with her family.
