Leslie S. Nucho

Ms. Leslie Nucho has served as Vice President for Programs at Amideast since 1995. She oversees the organization’s activity in the areas of English language, workplace/employability and professional skills training, educational exchange (including education abroad), and institutional strengthening, as well as its communications and monitoring and evaluation functions. Her role encompasses project design, proposal and budget review and approval, financial monitoring, staff supervision and guidance, and performance and reporting compliance.  

As a member of the senior leadership team, Ms. Nucho collaborates in defining the organization’s strategic direction, reviewing financial performance, and identifying innovative and appropriate solutions to challenges. Signature Amideast programs developed under her leadership have included the Professional Certificate in English Language Teaching (PCELT) in partnership with World Learning/SIT Graduate Institute, and the Skills for Success program model through which Amideast is providing youth throughout the MENA with the skills they need to secure employment. She was also instrumental in the organization’s early development of e-learning capacity. 

Ms. Nucho received a Bachelor of Arts in History from Occidental College and a Master of Arts in International Relations with concentrations in international economics and Middle East regional studies (including Arabic language proficiency) from the Johns Hopkins School for Advanced International Studies (SAIS). She joined Amideast in 1983.
