Increasingly, governments, corporations, and educational institutions sought Amideast’s assistance in upgrading their employees’ skills. In 1971, we began administering a training program for SAUDIA, the national airline of Saudi Arabia. The seven-year project delivered specialized American-style training to 1,000 technicians, pilots, and managers. Elsewhere, we undertook a faculty training and development program for the Lebanese University, helping 200 professors earn U.S. doctoral degrees, and, with USAID funding, assisted the Moroccan government with a pilot project to integrate women into the workforce.

USAID awarded the West Bank/Gaza Human Resource Development Project (HRDP) to Amideast. Over the next 18 years, Amideast would help more than 4,775 Palestinians to make a difference in their communities by significantly expanding the qualifications of higher education faculty, making a considerable contribution to the quality of tertiary education.
