Amideast has recently updated and expanded its Code of Conduct and ethics suite of policies to further prevent and combat fraud, waste, and abuse and to additionally communicate our no-tolerance stance on sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA). In practical terms SEA refers to the exchange of money, employment, goods, or services for sex, including sexual favors or other forms of humiliating, degrading, or exploitative behavior. Such behavior by any Amideast employee, consultant, volunteer, or contractor is expressly and vehemently prohibited.
Amideast is further committed to upholding the United Nations Secretary General’s Bulletin on Special Measures for protection from sexual exploitation and abuse (ST/SGB/2003/13), which is available at this website, and the six (6) Core Principles of the United Nations Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) on PSEA (2019). This comprehensive policy, as well as the Code of Conduct, applies to all individuals working for and on behalf of Amideast, including employees, consultants, volunteers, sub-awardees, and contractors.
Amideast requires that everyone working on its behalf uphold the laws of all countries in which we operate, as well as the values and standards outlined in the Code of Conduct. These standards, maintained by Human Resources, are supported by Amideast leadership and include disciplinary measures that Amideast may take to address violations.
We have established a confidential ethics hotline phone, email, and website which are available for anyone within or outside the organization to report any suspected ethics or conduct policy violation. The hotline is a multilingual external service managed by an independent third party that gives users the option of submitting an ethics complaint anonymously via email or voice telephone. Our Headquarters HR team automatically receives and follows up on all complaints made to the third-party hotline, though anyone is welcome to share complaints directly to our confidential email address: conduct@amideast.org.
Amideast takes very seriously allegations of any ethical and legal violations including, but not limited to corruption, fraud, sexual exploitation and abuse, and child abuse. Follow up activities conducted by HR for any allegation of violation of our Code of Conduct will include notification to Amideast's President/CEO and other relevant leadership as well as a detailed investigation.
To access our external hotline any time of day or night, please visit www.lighthouse-services.com/amideast
