Amideast hosts the EducationUSA advising center in Lebanon on behalf of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. As part of the EducationUSA network of more than 425 advising centers worldwide, it maintains EducationUSA ethical standards.
The EducationUSA center in Lebanon offers a full range of services to help students and professionals access higher education at 4,500 U.S. colleges and universities. These services include:
Accredited U.S. institutions are welcome to participate in direct videoconferences on various aspects of U.S. study, and otherwise help those that the center serves to learn more about U.S. education. Amideast also facilitates visits to Lebanon by U.S. university recruiters and touring U.S. college fair groups.
All sessions are free and open to the public.
To ensure that the best and the brightest students in Lebanon have a chance at a U.S. university, we have developed the Competitive College Club (CCC). CCC is open to all students in Lebanon- of any nationality, ethnicity, and economic background. Appreciation of diversity is a fundamental value on a U.S. campus and integration starts at home.
CCC is open to students in grades 9-12 (12th graders must join by June before the 12th grade) who are in the top 10 percent of their class. The only other requirement is commitment. Students must attend all meetings- bi monthly during the school year and daily during the summer. Absences must be requested from and approved by the educational adviser. Students will sign a contract detailing their responsibilities and confirming they have indeed understood them.
From grades 9-11, CCC will organize a number of activities including study groups, community service activities, reading assignments and lectures. From the beginning, students will be preparing for the SAT Subject tests as these provide a U.S. university with a quantitative measure hold up to school grades.
Unfortunately, there are no guarantees that CCC students will be accepted to a U.S. university but this intensive group advising guarantees the best possible chance. The Educational Adviser will also work with the student to have an alternative plan in the event if the application process did not turn successful.
Applicants can submit the application online to dsaleh@amideast.org, deliver it in person to Amideast, or mail the application to the following address:
EducationUSA, Amideast
