This spring, Amideast staff handled an unprecedented challenge: ensuring the safety, health, and well-being of international students in the face of a global pandemic.
As the university courses for the 578 students in the U.S.-Egypt HEI Public University Scholarships program moved online, Amideast adjusted to providing student support services remotely and virtual training and activities.
For 30 Egyptian students whose scheduled summer study abroad program in the United States was upended by the pandemic, Amideast arranged a five-week virtual academic exchange program with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL).
As the 2019-20 school year came to an end, Amideast’s headquarters staff took a leading role in arranging for the repatriation of more than 350 students to their home countries.
