This online course will help you develop your English language skills through practice of four key skills — listening, speaking, reading, and writing — as well as through grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation exercises. You will join classmates in the exploration of contemporary topics within an interactive virtual classroom that provides many opportunities to practice real-world communication. Outside this virtual classroom, you will be expected to complete assignments that extend in-class learning, collaborate in online discussions, and use a variety of digital resources for further language practice with the guidance of the teacher.

In this course, students receive 34 hours of teacher-led instruction, using 24 hours of class time to actively engage with others and practice the English language through current topics and real-world situations. The course includes an additional 6 hours outside of the virtual classroom that extend in-class learning with teacher support through such activities as participating in moderated discussion forums, scheduled chat sessions with the teacher, and independent and collaborative tasks outside of class.
Course times and days will be confirmed once a pre-registration form is completed and submitted, per the published schedule below. An online English language placement test will then be administered. All class materials, including online resources, are provided to students. The maximum number of students per class is 15.
