Amideast is proud to join in today’s celebration of International Women’s Day (IWD). Amideast is committed to making a difference in the lives of women across the Middle East and North Africa by expanding access to opportunities for training and education. Here are some of the ways in which we are working towards this goal:
- Arab Women’s Entrepreneurship Project (AWEP), an Amideast-Citi Foundation partnership that is supporting the aspirations of women who aspire to a career in business
- Skills for Success® —Employability Skills for Women, a training initiative undertaken in partnership with the Union for the Mediterranean, which is designed to improve the job prospects of 450 women graduates in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, and Tunisia
- Initiatives such as Amideast’s Diana Kamal Scholarship Search Fund, which open the doors to higher education
- Programs such as the U.S. Department of State-funded English Access Microscholarship Program that are helping young women in many countries develop English language and other skills that will enable them to access further academic and career opportunities
