The program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of State, also gives participants the opportunity to gain an appreciation for American culture and democratic values, increase their ability to participate successfully in the socio-economic development of their countries, and improve their chances of participating in U.S. educational and exchange programs. The program promotes tolerance and the acceptance of cultural differences. U.S. cultural traditions and holidays are celebrated and fused with similar Egyptian events in an attempt to build cultural bridges.
Teach to Lead will support Egypt’s current comprehensive educational reform process. Training will be provided to teachers from Greater Cairo, encompassing Cairo, Giza, and Qalyoubia governorates, in groups of 12-15 each at Amideast’s state-of-the-art training facility in Giza, which is fully equipped with classrooms and computer labs.
Amideast will build on its expertise in teacher training and leadership to develop a dynamic, 60-hour training program, which will emphasize the following elements:
