Past Programs
Legal and Business Fellowship Program (LBFP)
This program came as an enhancement to its predecessor the Business Internship Program (BIP) and was funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI). It provided young professional women from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in the fields of business and law an opportunity to practice their skills and gain experience in top U.S. law firm and companies to help them develop their professional skills and advocate for legal reforms and a transparent investment climate.
While it only handled recruitment for the BIP in 2005 and 2005; AMIDEAST fully administered all aspects of the LBFP when it was offered in 2007, 2008, and 2009.
After successfully passing a rigorous and competitive selection process, LBFP participants were offered orientation workshops in their home country as well as in the U.S. before completing a Master’s level tailored executive education program at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton school and Penn Law. This was followed by several months of work at top U.S. companies and law firms all over the U.S.
Key partners in the implementation of this program were the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton school and Penn Law; as well affiliates of the National Council for International Visitors (NCIV).
AMIDEAST is proud to have administered this program on behalf of the U.S. Department of State’s Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI), especially that program alumnae have become active members in their communities and elements of positive change.
