Document Authentication

Download Release Form

If you require a degree authentication of your U. S. academic credential, you may use AMIDEAST’s Degree Authentication Service to request an official transcript or an official letter of degree conferral from the accredited institution that you attended. This process involves the following steps:

  • Complete the release form and send it to Advising and Testing Services.
    • A separate release form is required for each institution that you have attended.
    • Release forms must be signed by you yourself—they cannot be signed by someone else on your behalf.
    • Include your student number. If you had a Social Security number, your student number may possibly be the same.
    • Be sure to indicate the exact campus and city of the college or university you attended.
    • Indicate to which AMIDEAST office the official documents should be sent.
  • Pay processing fee to AMIDEAST.
    • The fee is $50 per document per institution. Documents processed generally include transcripts and/or letters confirming degree completion. Please contact us if you need something different.
    • Fees are payable by Visa, MasterCard, Diner’s Club, American Express, or a money order or check drawn on a U.S. bank.
    • Rush service is available for an additional $50. “Rush” means that the release form is faxed or overnight mailed to the university rather than being sent by regular mail, then faxed to your designated recipient.
    • Canadian documents require an additional fee of $50. We do not authenticate degrees from countries other than the United States and Canada.
    • Physicians requiring an official letter from the American Medical Association, American Association of Pediatrics, etc., must pay an additional $50. Other professional credentials may also require an added processing fee.
  • Contact the AMIDEAST office to which the documents are to be sent after six weeks to learn if your documents have arrived.
    • No specific time for receipt can be guaranteed.
    • Orders are processed on the same day that the transcript release form is received at AMIDEAST Washington. Washington staff will follow up with the university if documents are not received within one month (one week in the case of rush requests).
    • The average turn around time is six weeks (two weeks in the case of rush requests).
    • Because of the high volume of requests processed, AMIDEAST cannot generally provide individual notification of document receipt. Please contact the office where you have asked that documents be couriered.
  • Arrange to pick up documents.
    • AMIDEAST will hold documents until you or a person representing you picks them up.
    • You will receive the documents as well as a stamped letter attesting to document authenticity. AMIDEAST makes a copy of all documents before returning them. These copies may be accessed by the appropriate agencies should any concerns as to their legitimacy aris
