Amideast Country Director Mary Corrado Receives AmCham Abu Dhabi’s 2014 Woman in Business Award

 

Amideast congratulates its UAE country director, Mary Corrado, for being honored with the 2014 Woman in Business Award by AmCham Abu Dhabi. This award, which was presented at the AmCham's annual awards gala on January 31, 2014, recognizes working females who have demonstrated exemplary leadership and accomplishment by pushing barriers, overcoming challenges and setting an example of perseverance and professionalism.

Ms. Corrado has been actively involved in the Abu Dhabi business community for the past 37 years. Her relationship with the UAE dates to 1970, when she became a friend and advisor to the first Emiratis to attend college in the United States. The bonds she and her husband forged by advising them about life in the United States led them to move to Abu Dhabi in 1977.

In 1996, she opened the Amideast/UAE office. In addition to managing scholarship and exchange programs including the Fulbright program, the UAE office provides a wide range of academic and professional assessment tools and delivers professional and English language training. 

Also of note, Ms. Corrado has been a lead member of the Board of Governors of the Al Shohub School, a British curriculum school for girls. She is an advisor to the Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation (ADMAF), a nonprofit organization to promote music and arts education.  In 2011, she became a founding member of the mentoring group Women in Excellence out of her desire to help Emirati women pursue rewarding careers.
