Staff Openings: Educational Adviser

Position Title: Educational Adviser
Position Classification: Program Officer (Part-Time)
Department: Programs, Advising and Testing Services

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES

This employee provides support for advising programs at HQ and Dubai, as assigned, including but not limited to the following:

  • Provide online educational advising services for individuals interested in pursuing U.S. higher education, including responses to email inquiries and online consultations.
  • Develop content for the Web site as well as articles, brochures, handouts, and presentations, working with the educational adviser in Dubai and Headquarters staff.
  • Market online advising services to students and scholars worldwide.
  • Facilitate online chats and moderate listserv.
  • Prepare monthly statistical and narrative reports on advising activities.
  • Assume other special activities and responsibilities from time to time.
  • Remain current on changes within the industry through publications and continuing education.
  • Project a qualified appearance and cooperative attitude, maintain high ethical standards of confidentiality in representing AMIDEAST to ensure a professional representation at all times.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Fluent Farsi and English
  • Five or more years of relevant full-time experience
  • Excellent computer skills including experience in using Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work within deadlines and frequently shifting priorities
  • U.S. residency

Preferred

  • Masters degree
  • International experience

Physical Requirements: This position does not necessarily require any specific sitting/standing or walking responsibilities, but it may, from time to time, require the following:

  • Ability to lift 20-25 pounds
  • Computer responsibilities involving extensive use of keyboard, mouse and monitor
  • May, on occasion, require some overtime hours or working at non-standard times
  • Use of telephone and other office equipment
  • Hours in excess of 8 per day or 40 per week.
