Washington, DC, February 7, 2012 — AMIDEAST is pleased to announce the appointment of Samar Khleif as AMIDEAST’s new country director for Kuwait. She replaces Maureen Aldakheel, who is retiring after 14 years of dedicated service as country director for AMIDEAST/Kuwait.
Ms. Khleif brings with her a deep understanding of Kuwait and a strong personal commitment to international education and skills training. Her prior experience in the private sector, where she worked in finance and marketing first with a major U.S. energy corporation and later with McKinley Marketing, a respected marketing and branding firm located in Washington, DC, provides a strong background from which to advance AMIDEAST’s expanding commitment to offering Kuwaiti youth and others access to business skills training and specialized English language programs for the workplace. Ms. Khleif holds an MBA from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in finance from the University of Texas at Austin. She has been residing in Kuwait for over four years with her family, and is fluent in both Arabic and English.
Ms. Khleif will oversee the continued expansion of AMIDEAST’s Kuwait operations. A move to larger quarters last year has provided much needed space for new classes and services, including a new state-of-the-art Prometric testing center. The Kuwait office offers the full range of AMIDEAST educational and training services, including scholarships for study in the United States and free English language training for disadvantaged youth, provided to date to over 1,000 Kuwait high school students through the English Access Microscholarship Program, an initiative of the U.S. Department of State.
