Washington, DC, January 2, 2012 — AMIDEAST is pleased to announce the appointment of Dana Shuqom as its new country director for Jordan. She takes over just as AMIDEAST/Jordan completes the relocation of its Amman office to a much larger facility that will enable it to expand its offerings of programs and services in the country.
A native of Jordan, Ms. Shuqom brings to AMIDEAST more than a decade of experience in management and business development in both the nonprofit and for-profit sectors. She has worked with a number of Jordanian and international organizations, including the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development, the Business and Professional Women’s Association of Amman, the Al-Aman Fund for the Future of Orphans, and the Jordan Tourism Board, and has consulted for the World Bank and USAID projects. For a period of time, she also served as the deputy general manager of an advertising and events management company based in Amman.
Ms. Shuqom holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the American University of Beirut , a master’s degree in development administration and planning from the University of Bristol, and a second master’s degree in international studies from the University of Miami. She spent the past year and a half on a Fulbright scholarship pursuing doctoral studies in international relations at the University of Miami.
Ms. Shuqom, who will be based in Amman with responsibility for a second office in Aqaba, is a welcome addition to the AMIDEAST Regional team.
