The Diana Kamal Scholarship Search Fund (DKSSF) makes the dream of study in the Unisted States possible for highly qualified Arab students from underserved populations in the Middle East and North Africa. Through this initiative, AMIDEAST is able to identify students of exceptional accomplishment and promise who wish to pursue undergraduate study at an American college or university, but cannot afford to do so. The resources in this special fund then enable AMIDEAST to provide the services that assist several candidates each year to apply and qualify for four-year scholarships to select U.S. institutions of higher learning.
We are looking for applicants interested in teaching at our Office in Tunis as well as Sousse.
AMIDEAST, the largest American provider of English language training in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), has partnered with World Learning/SIT Graduate Institute— http://sit.edu/ a U.S.-based global leader in teacher education—to launch a unique certificate program for teachers of English. Representing over 100 years’ experience in education, the two prestigious nonprofit organizations have joined forces to meet the growing demand in the Arab world for quality training in English language teaching and provide current and future teachers the first such American-accredited program available throughout the region.
English language teachers--and particularly certified, expert English language teachers--are in high demand worldwide. With English language proficiency increasingly linked to better opportunities for youth and improved business performance in the MENA, the need for qualified teachers is now more critical than ever. PCELT directly addresses this need by developing informed, analytical, and up-to-date teachers prepared to impact learners of all ages and backgrounds with different language goals. PCELT has a flexible, adaptable design that takes into account the many perse language classrooms and everyday realities of teachers in a complex and rapidly changing environment.
US State Department Scholarships are awarded through the Access program to deserving Tunisian students aged 13-15 from underprivileged economic environments who would not normally benefit from English language reinforcement. Along with English training, this program also introduces and/or strengthens the students' awareness of cross-cultural similarities and differences through democratic, national and community themes and activities. These students are nominated and endorced by their school directors as to their character, commitment, academic promise and need.
